Constructing Connections & Celebrating the Season

Women with Tools in YYC

A brand NEW community group for women in Calgary and area, who love to work with tools is now LIVE. Whether you’re an experienced DIY’er or just starting out, this group will be a place to connect with like-minded women and get inspired to tackle a new project! It could be a small household project, like building a shelf, or a larger outdoor project, like constructing a garden bed. Whatever your skill level or interest, this community group aims to provide a supportive and empowering environment for women who enjoy working with tools!

The community group will have a big online presence, where Rusted Petal will post DIY projects, tutorials, videos and a place members can connect virtually, share their own project progress and seek advice.

Rusted Petal celebrates ALL women and the ones that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and create something beautiful!

If we get a head-start on these workshops then all you have to do when the holiday approaches is sit back, relax… and enjoy the season! We are looking at some NEW builds for each season as well. Summer in the City

With summer nearing, there are a lot of opportunities to get outside and enjoy some of the festivals and events around town! One event that we love (and is fast approaching) is Jazz YYC’s Summer Festival. The Summer Festival runs from June 28 – July 2 and showcases a variety of local jazz artists, at different spots around the city! You can purchase a summer pass or the summer sampler and take in a few shows or try and see them all – it’s worth checking out!

In late July, and in just enough time to recover from the Calgary Stampede, is the Calgary Folk Festival at Prince’s Island Park. This year it’s their 44th annual and you can expect an amazing line-up (we don’t want to spoil it for you so check out their site). Enjoying the music while sitting on a blanket, surrounded by the park’s beautiful greenery and basking in the sunshine is truly the BEST way to experience the event.

We also want to thank everyone that took the time to answer our poll about our workshops (times/days/lengths). We are going to adjust our schedules accordingly so please stay tuned to our calendar of events. As the city comes alive with a myriad of outdoor activities and events, something to enjoy with our longer and brighter days, we can’t wait to see you in the shop this summer too!
